Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification & Training
When your employer or licensing board says BLS, they almost always mean the American Heart Association BLS Provider course, and that is exactly what we teach. CPR Metro brings the full AHA BLS course to your clinic, practice, or facility, so your team certifies together without closing for a day or commuting to a training center.
Who needs Basic Life Support (BLS) via AHA training?
Nurses, CNAs, and medical assistants
Most healthcare employers require a current AHA BLS Provider card as a condition of employment, and it has to stay current.
Dentists, hygienists, and dental teams
Dental boards commonly require CPR or BLS certification for license renewal, and an on-site class certifies the whole practice after hours or between patients.
Physical, occupational, and respiratory therapists
Hands-on patient care roles carry BLS requirements at most facilities, whether you work in a hospital, clinic, or home setting.
Nursing, PA, and medical students
Clinical programs require BLS Provider certification before rotations begin, and group sessions get an entire cohort ready at once.
Home health and assisted living staff
Caring for medically fragile clients means being ready for respiratory and cardiac emergencies without a code team down the hall.
Certification details
Certifying body
This course is certified through the American Heart Association only: you earn the AHA BLS Provider credential that healthcare employers and licensing boards recognize.
How long it lasts
AHA BLS Provider certification is valid for two years.
Same day cards
Cards are issued the same day you pass the skills evaluation, so a renewal never leaves you with a coverage gap at work.
What to expect at your on-site session
Setup
Your instructor sets up adult and infant manikins, AED trainers, and airway equipment in your conference room, staff lounge, or open clinical space.
Instruction
High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, plus the coordinated team response healthcare settings expect during a real event.
Hands-on practice
Single-rescuer and team scenarios with real-time coaching on compressions, ventilation, and AED integration.
Skills evaluation
AHA BLS includes a formal evaluation: each provider demonstrates competency on the manikins and completes the course assessment to pass.
Cards issued
Same-day BLS Provider cards for everyone who passes, with a roster for your credentialing or HR files.
Group sizes and logistics
- Groups from 4 to 50+. Hospital units and large practices rotate through manikin stations in teams.
- Clinics often train between shifts or after the last patient. We schedule around your hours, including evenings and weekends.
